How Subscription Information is used and stored
The information about you that we collect to process your subscription is used and stored internally and is not shared with third parties without your consent. Only the CFCC and its Web hosting agency, Texas Lawyers for Children, have access to this information. Your subscription information is used to confirm that you are a qualified user of the site (an attorney, judicial officer, social worker or other child welfare professional). Your information may also be used to add you to our mailing list, which will be used exclusively by the CFCC.
Please contact us if you do not want your name added to our mailing list.
Other Information Collected and Stored
For each visitor to our Web site, our Web server automatically gathers and stores the following information:
- If you linked to our Web site from another site, the address of the site you linked from;
- Your IP address (an "IP address" is a numerical identifier automatically assigned either to your Internet service provider or directly to your computer when you are surfing the Web);
- Environmental variables including:
- Internet domain from which you access the Internet;
- Date and time you accessed our site;
- Names of the pages you visit while at this site; and
- Internet address of the Web site you visit after leaving our site.
Our site may also use invisible tags placed on our Web pages, not on your computer, to compile aggregate statistics about site usage. When you visit a page with a tag, a generic notice of your visit to that page is generated.
How This Information Is Used
The information described under "other information collected and stored", above is used to diagnose problems with our server; to learn about the number of visitors to our site and the types of technology they use; to improve the content of the site; and to monitor the site to ensure its security.
We do not share the information you provide with any other public or private organization. However, we may disclose personally identifiable information in response to legal process, for example, in response to a court order or a subpoena. We also may disclose such information in response to a law enforcement agency's request, or where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, or as otherwise required by law.
Cookies are small files stored on users' computers by Web sites. Cookies will be stored on a visitor's computer in limited instances to enable session management. The cookies will remain on your computer for 30 minutes after you finish using the site, and will then be erased. You must have cookies enabled in your Web browser when you are prompted to enter a user name and password.
